Adding Web Syndication to Your Site

You can easily add code that opens a Web page with your RSS or Atom syndication feed (or anysyndication feed that you designate) using our Syndication Viewer. You'll find that this is a great way to add useful functionality to your site. This page shows you two different easy ways to add a link to our syndication viewer using your own feed. Even if you don't have a feed, this may be useful. For example, perhaps your visitors might like to have an up-to-date display of "news for nerds, stuff that matters" from SlashDot. (Tip: You can get some ideas about feeds you can display from the Syndication Viewer itself.)

To let the user enter the URL of a feed for display from your Web page, copy the code below and paste it into your Web page:

You can change the suggested feed in the code from http://slashdot.org/index.rss to anything you'd like. Note: This code will open the syndicated feed in a new window. If you enter a feed in the box, and click the button you'll see what it looks like when you copy and paste this code into your Web page:
Enter a feed (for example, http://slashdot.org/index.rss):

You might prefer to just provide a link for your Web visitors to open a feed that you've selected in advance (such as the Amazon feed of bestsellers). Note: the link will not open a new browser window. In this case, copy and paste the following code (of course, you can change the feed to any feed you'd like, and you can change the text that is displayed in the link as well):

Here's the link this code creates, you can try it for yourself:

News for nerds that matters from SlashDot

It's easy and fun to add functionality to your site using the power of syndication. So what are you waiting for?
